How we choose and describe hosting

Our editorial approach to provider profiles, affiliate relationships and practical Joomla hosting guidance.

Be useful about the things that matter

We write for people deciding where and how to host a Joomla website. Our coverage focuses on compatibility, control, maintenance responsibilities, recovery and the costs and support to check before purchase.

We currently list Vultr only. Its featured position reflects the scope of this launch, not a tested ranking against every hosting provider.

Separate product facts from judgement

Provider features are based on published product documentation. Our interpretation of who a service might suit is editorial guidance, not a guarantee of a particular result.

What a review date means

A guide’s documentation review date records a check of its scope and supporting sources. It does not mean that a procedure has been run end to end on a live server. The installation walkthrough states its target environment and current testing limits. We do not describe documentation review as first-hand testing.

Where a real author/operator profile has been provided, it appears in the byline and on the about page. Otherwise the publishing organisation is credited. We do not invent personal experience or qualifications to fill a profile.

We do not claim to have benchmarked a service unless we publish an actual method and results. We do not invent customer reviews, uptime measurements, star ratings or third-party endorsements.

Performance depends on the website, configuration, workload and selected product. Our guides encourage testing your own application rather than treating a generic score as a promise.

Make responsibilities visible

Cloud infrastructure and managed Joomla hosting involve different responsibilities. When we describe a self-managed service, we explain that the owner needs to arrange server updates, security, backups and application maintenance.

We highlight questions worth asking rather than assume a support team will perform work outside its stated service.

Keep commercial relationships clear

Our Vultr links are affiliate links. We may receive a commission or referral reward from qualifying signups. Affiliate relationships influence which provider this initial directory covers, so the scope is disclosed alongside the content.

We still describe practical limitations and the possibility that a different hosting arrangement may suit a visitor better. Read the affiliate disclosure for the links and offers used on this site.

Treat prices and promotions as changeable

Plans, regions, support terms and offers can change. Price examples show their source and the date checked. The cost calculator uses a fixed snapshot, not a live quote; arithmetic does not establish actual capacity or final billing. We direct visitors to the provider for current pricing and contractual details. A promotional credit is not a substitute for reviewing normal ongoing costs.

The hosting fit checker uses explicit rules about administration, support and budget. Answers that indicate a managed service is needed receive that guidance, even though Vultr is the only provider in the directory. Answers remain on the page and are not sent to a provider or stored by the tool.

Technical guides link to primary documentation where relevant. Always check the requirements for the exact version you are deploying, especially before changing a live environment.

Corrections and practical limits

These pages provide general information and planning guidance. They do not replace the documentation for a particular product or the testing needed for your own site.

If a provider’s documentation and this site differ, verify the current details with the provider before acting. Contact details, when available, appear on the about page.
